Jolen Johran Sloan Babakhani was born on February 2, 2007, and he ventured from this world on
October 15, 2009. To everyone who knew him, he was laughter and energy, a Boo-Boo Bear who loved all
kinds of balls, dogs and kitties. To his mother, Sara, he was her "goodest friend." His grip on our
hearts is like the warmth of a spring sun.

Lay down my child
Close your eyes one more time
Let the night take you softly into sleep
Sure as the moon shining on your sweet face
Be rest assured you will be safe
In this place

The sweetest gift
God has given me
Graced with the tiniest beauty
These eyes have seen
Soft as the song of a winter wind
Sheltered by love
A love that will never end

Life so often a mystery
And each of us seeking a clue
To an answer I never thought I’d find
When I lost you
But in your time with me
Somehow you taught me to see
Just as in life
Even in death
You always will be here with me

So lay down my child
Close your eyes one more time
Let the night take you softly into sleep
And on to your maker you will fly
Low as the angels sing you a lullaby

A Child Loaned

A Child Loaned
"I'll lend you for a little time
A child of Mine." He said.
"For you to love the while he lives
And mourn for when he's dead.
It may be six or seven year
Or twenty-two or three
But will you, till I call him back
Take care of him for Me?
He'll bring his charms to gladden you
And should his stay be brief,
You'll have his lovely memories
As solace for your grief.

I cannot promise he will stay
Since all from Earth return,
But there are lessons taught down there
I want the child to learn.
I've looked this wide world over
In my search for teacher's true,
And from the throngs that crowd life's lanes,
I have selected you;
Now will you give him all your love,
Nor think the labour vain
Nor hate Me when I come to call
And take him back again?

I fancied that I heard them say,
"Dear Lord, Thy will be done,
For all the joy Thy child shall bring,
For the risk of grief we'll run.
We'll shelter him with tenderness,
We'll love him while we may,
And for the happiness we've known,
Forever grateful stay.
But should the angels call for him
Much sooner than we planned,
We'll brave the bitter grief that comes
And try to understand."

Shakespeare's Sonnet 116

"Love is not love
which alters when it alteration finds,
or bends with the remover to remove:
Oh, no! It is an ever-fixed mark.
That looks on tempests and is never shaken;
it is the star to every wandering bark,
whose worth's unknown, although his height be taken."
